Day 3 – From Cali to Oregon

“Dear Diary,
Today I woke up! WOW!!! Then I posted yesterday’s blog a day late… BUMMER!! Then a ate breakfast! YIPPIEE! And after that we road in the Van! What FUN! And then we got to this place and had more FUN! Can you believe it! I can…” -- Excerpt from my very personal diary…

Anyways, today we began Day 3 of our trip. We started in Garberville, California and ended up in Florence Oregon. After we traveled for a few hours we arrived at the start of the Redwood National Park. We stopped at one of the beaches that’s at the start of the Redwood National Park. Dad, Liz and Josh were drawn the freezing water so this is what happened:

As you can see they got just a little bit wet… They ended up having to change in the Visitors Center, rule of thumb: “If on a beach, wear a swimsuit/shorts”

After that we entered the Redwood forest. When we got into the Old Forest part of it there was this huge tree. The scenery was beautiful and we were in awe of God’s creation. To see something this BIG and peaceful truly shows intelligent design.

And then Dad drove into a tree...

Then we drove into Oregon and stopped at a few coastal areas to admire the scenery (another example of a God who can create unbelievable majesty).
We wanted to try and get to a lighthouse but arrived at 4:30 (an hour after the tour stopped)
Soon after we left the lighthouse we finished our book on tape, “Thr3e”. It’s a very good thriller/mystery book with some good points. If you’re a fan of that genre I’d recommend it.
We’re now spending the night in Woahink Lake Suit. Tomorrow we hope to go Dune Buggy

Riding along with going to Washington.
Enjoy your week!

2nd Day - Arrival at Cali

We are now completed with our second day. And let me tell you, our second day was a full one. We had to wake up at 5CST (3PST) to eat breakfast and get on our plane. We took that plane to Phoenix and had about a 20 minute delay there while we waited for some people to get on/off. It's different being in Pacific timing since when we arrived in Arizona it was 7AM so we actually didn't spend anytime flying.

During the flight we saw many amazing views of God's creation...

After we got off the plane we picked up our rental mini-van and headed to the Intel museum. We enjoyed reading about the Intel computer chip.

We left the Intel museum at about 1 PST and some of us started feeling the hunger of the early morning (we hadn't eaten since 3PST...) There were songs song of

But we had to get out of San Fran before the rush hour hit so we had to wait on our food. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and stopped to inspect it and take a few pictures. Because of all the Smog we could only see the bottom part of it. And because of the cold windy day (a mere 60) we didn't stay long.

(note: we finally got our food at 3:30PST, 12 hours since our last meal... no one told us that because of flying out here we had to make up saving money somewhere else...)

We're making our way to to the Redwood Forest which isn't too far from where we are staying. Our trip to the beach yesterday was short, the dip was short and little. We found out that the water feels much colder on the pacific ocean than it does in Florida. It felt like Ice Cubes!! There's definetly going to be no body surfing as long as it stays that cold.

Well another day has started and we must be off, it felt good to sleep in till 7:30PST so I'm all rested. I might just two naps today as opposed to three yesterday...

Till next time!

God Bless!

Welcome + First Stop

Welcome to the Kester blog about my (Caleb) senior trip. I hope to write regularly on this during the phase of our trip. There will be pictures, stories, to share (sorry, no smells though).

First off we departed from our home sweet home. We left Daisy there in her kennel and said our goodbyes. Our EDA was supposed to be 5... but as we all know those get pushed back because of unexpected delays. We left the house at about 5:50 so I guess it was still 5.

Our First stop (technically our second due to a gas fill and stomach fill (brought to you by your friendly DQ)) is in a Super 8 Motel in Carter Lake, IA.

It is here where we leave our vehicles behind in the Airport Parking Lot (so if you want to take em… good luck getting past security). Here are a few pictures (taken by Josh) of this exciting first stop on our trip to California!
